Ion engines not working

Yes they are connected, Yes they are powered, yes I'm not recharging my jumpdrive
in creative my ion engines are not working, I can hear the sounds of them working but there isn't a blue glow or me accelerating, my batteries are fully charged and I put uranium in my reactors but none of my ion engines work, hydrogen do work I'm a bit confused
