Ideas on Hauling Contracts

I had 2 ideas on Hauling Contracts.

1. It's weird that you just "haul" a small package. It's more like a Space Bike Messenger at the moment - it would be cool if you could actually haul big loads of freight and need a proper freight for that.

2. A variation of the hauling contact could be that a station on the planet gives you a contract to haul something off planet to a station in orbit next to a planet. Or vice versa - an asteroid mining station tasking you to deliver Uranium or Platinum to their planetary outpost.

This would mean that the distance could be shorter, since you cannot use jump drives and it would make a nice addition to make planet runs.

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback

I was thinking that or have very large packages that take up the entire contents of a large grid small cargo container and require delivery of multiple packages. This was there is a use for giant cargo haulers with tons of cargo containers on board.

Possibly also make it so you can sell packages for far less at rival stations so pirating vessels for their cargo becomes a thing.

This, and have a chance of some drones attacking you in between jumps. I also like the idea of physical cargo that you have to carry somewhere on your ship.

My only concern about 'physical cargo' is that if it's just components, how does the game ensure you just didn't get them from somewhere else?

Does it matter ? They gave you 1,000 of something, you delivered 1,000 of said item, it doesn't matter what happened in between.

Well, if it's just components it becomes an acquisition contract but you're already given the stuff. I feel like if you could just source the components closer to the destination and never haul anything at that point.

Yes but if you get attacked or mess up and the components are lost, then you have to scramble to make/acquire more somehow before your contract runs out of time.

I am talking about some kind of block, like crates :)

Hauling either components or a physical item that you attach to your ship would be nice. It could add further complications if you crash your ship or get attacked and have to protect the contents or replace them if they are lost. Jumping several thousand kilometers gets boring real fast and in some cases your ship isn't capable of crossing the distance in time, so instead of making hauling missions timed maybe random circumstances such as enemies periodically trying to stop you from delivering or having to acquire the materials and deliver would make it more interesting.
