Bounty Hunting

Sorry for submitting more feedback but I felt this needed a basic topic by itself:

Bounty Hunting was the thing that most excited me for this update. Trading and Economy is amazing but having lifestyle plans for new players to give them direction is amazing and bounty hunting is one that caught my eye.

After testing, My findings where that a player will acquire a bounty from a faction if said faction's standing goes down to the player. They will eventually post a contract for his removal from the universe which is all good fun to an extent.

After setting up shop at my own space station, I was keen to create an outlaw space bar inspired by the interiors of the new space stations and have a big LCD panel like a bounty board and have a contract machine with ALL bounties of players set but to my disappointment, I discovered you can't create personal bounties on players.

I understand they might have to be at war with your faction or an enemy or something (Did some testing with a friend and still couldn't place a bounty) so my conclusion is that it isn't possible?

furthermore, I never actually got to test this but how would bounties work if the hunted player is behind a safe-zone shield? Could the player accepted the contract be the only person in the safe zone to kill the player? Or maybe only 'natural' safe zones not player made ones? Food for thought.

Please can this feature be re-visited? Part of the excitement was to place bounties on players and have a space station and a bounty hunters guild specifically tied to supplying bounties to players :) This feature would be astronomical for the server I play on, giving life to an amazing feature would be a great part of this update but I can imagine it will be a faff to make it work but I'm praying you guys do!

Thanks, Keen for making an awesome game!

Something you have to consider is that the bounty contract supposedly places a GPS marker close to the targeted player. This could be cheesed fairly easily if players could place bounties in the same way. Say BadGuy1 places a bounty on GoodGuy who is building a secret base in nowhere space. BadGuy2 accepts the contract and both BG1 and BG2 go to the location of the marker to raid GG's base. GG is killed and his base is raided, and BG2 gives back the bounty money to BG1 and they split loot they take.

If player bounties are added, I don't think the marker should be automatically generated for this reason. Either the player that places the bounty specifies the search location, or no marker is placed.

Hmm... actually I just thought of something else. How do you stop players from antagonizing the NPC factions so that they place a bounty, then immediately have their own buddies take the contract and kill them so they can get free money?

Don't get me wrong... I really like the idea of bounties, but I also see how they might be abused.

Yeah, thats really made me think :s... Could easily be abused that way I suppose. It was currently a toggle-able option in the world menu? So might be countered that way possibly? Or simply players placing bounties don't get GPS markers?

Yeah I feel that last point is always going to be an issue :/ Thats why they've set the money pretty low with it only being 20-50k I believe. I wish it wouldn't be abused as it is a cool addition to the game if players were able to have more involvement in bounties and the reward was greater as taking down a player might be harder than say an escort missin but the bounty pays less :/

Thats why I think keen is going to have a really difficult time trying to sort bounties out to a state where they are reward-able but not exploitable and if they figure out a way (Because I sure can't) That will be really impressive if they find that balance.

If it gets removed or something, I'm sure i'll be able to engineer a way to still make it fun for my server :) Possibly just means more legwork trying to find and locate people then add datapads with their last known GPS location or something :S

Thanks for the thoughts though! :D

Bounty , great idea ,gps on victim .. Totally BAD!!!

And i know ppls that now play in their local or self made servers with mods that remove contract block because is not very good for ppls that like war play stile get founded at 20 k km distance bcz oh yeee gps fr# thing , and is not about crime-pay scenary is about thing that now game is oriented to passive build things , trading stile but no one of those who implemented this update was thinking about players that like pvp...

Is just unfairly at any point of view and would be nice if gps sign on bounty player will not seen or be able it to disable in server settings

Hi,

Two notes:

1) GPS is not on target but randomly in radius around him.

2) You can disable bounty contracts in the server settings
