Trash Removal Grid Age

Just had an interesting option idea for trash removal:

When the system tries to check a grid marked for trash removal, it can check the relative "age" of the grid. That is, whenever a player interacts with the grid in any way, either by welding, grinding, damaging or using the grid & its inventory/terminal, it'll reset this "age" back to 0. This age accumulates over time, and only gets set back to 0 if the age is greater than 0.

That way, grids that are left without any player interaction for X amount of time automatically get removed.

This is of course in conjunction with the other trash removal whitelist options, so that grids don't get removed by simply sitting in place after 1 minute.

I second this. The grid age should be set to several days normally on a dedicated server, as not everything gets visited often, but you don't want something that will never be used again just sitting there. I would also exempt any grid with a connected laser antenna, as relay satellites and such often are never directly used but serve an important purpose.

There are indeed some exceptions. Add hidden cargo containers in asteroids to the list. Due to how PvP works I assume many good players have these kinds of stashes for different resources to not lose everything when they are found. The proposed system would drive players towards using few and centralized grids, making them more vulnerable again. There is also the question of what happens with grids that are not interacted with in that way, but just moved around physically like parked fighters in a carrier.
