Suspension Suggestion + Keybinding Suggestion

Wheels. One of the most important blocks withing SE, despite it's focus on space itself. These lovely things can be used not only on suspensions but also on rotors... pistons? Wheels can be armor!

But one thing is missing from the original combination.... SUSPENSIONS.

Why can we use things like wheels separately but not suspensions?

Why aren't there blocks like pistons which... upon facing a force that is greater than their own, get pushed back?

Imagine the things... aside from wheels that we could use THESE on.

Walkers would become far more practical and would benefit hugely from suspensions.

Cars could get bouncier. Ships could get armor that absorbs kinetic energy better.

And perhaps one day.... i can make a proper exosuit... or not.

On a side note.

It would be nice if i could assign certain keybindings to do affect certain blocks in certain ways... depending on the control seat and without a script.

I imagine sitting in a walker one day and... binding it's walk cycle to W instead of using a lot of over-complicated scripts and timers to make it walk.

It may help your argument if you define your 'suspension' idea that is different than the suspension already in the game.

What they're asking is why we can't use blocks other than wheels on suspensions, effectively having suspensions treated similar to rotors/pistons in that they create a subgrid you can build freely on.

This would allow for custom landing gear, for example, that isn't rigid and as such allows easier landing on rough terrain. See also: Any application where you would need a spring constraint, rather than rigid, immovable pistons.
