Let me first off just say I love the game. I've spent more than a thousand hours building random stuff and having a heck of a good time doing it. I wouldn't be suggesting things that could make it better if I didn't think the game was good.


I don't know about everyone else but to me, the suits need work. They don't feel like a high tech protective prosthesis. You get pod-dropped onto a survival planet with nothing but this suit-sack and the pod you're in, and by the time you're running a high tech multi-station corporation across the entire system, you're still in this sack.

Okay to be fair: Maybe you've recolored it. Maybe you've got a new texture, but that only really shows off to other players. Meanwhile you, the person in this suit, you never get even a chance to make it perform better the way you can with your ships. You can't slap a geological survey scanner into the wrist to increase mining yields or ore detection range. You can't add extra plating to help you take a fraction more damage. There's no jet pack fuel efficiency module you can install and you won't find an LED flashlight for the helmet.


Speaking of the lights in the suits, why the heccin hecc are we using flashlight bulbs from 1985? I get it, the swirl pattern, the little areas of the circle of the light that are a tiny bit darker than the others add a hint of being able to detect that it is a flashlight and not a light-light it just feels super out of place. Clearly LEDs exist in the Space Engineers universe, has no engineer thought to make a light source out of them? It feels anachronistic.


However, while it feels a might bit out of place in situations where you are fortunate it does add a lot of visual depth to the more hardcore scenarios so from my perspective the happy compromise between functionality and atmosphere would be a moddable suit. Give us a few slots to put mods in and give us a new suit maintenance terminal where we can add some of the suggestions from below and whatever else you think of.


Some examples of mods would be:

- Collision Dampers - allows a *slight* decrease in damage taken from collisions.

- Geological Survey Scanner - increases yield from mining a small amount.

- Jetpack Efficiency System - decrease fuel consumption for suit jetpack

- Jetpack Thruster Overclocking - Increases thrust and fuel consumption for more efficacy on high gravity planets.

- Enhanced View Module - Think binoculars built into the helmet of the suit.

- Sensor Deprecation Module - make this able to reduce the detection range of *only non-faction* players and ships. Friends will be able to see your beacon, enemy players will too but only at a much closer distance.


These are just a few possibilities. At the very least this is something to consider for "Space Engineers 2: The Engineerenning."

I think there is already a suggestion for this. If you want the devs to see this, you might want to read what the people there have to say and show off your new ideas.
