SUGGESTION: Small Life!
The Earth-alike worlds are quite dead, somehow. Here is an idea that makes it more interesting to walk through the (beautifully designed) lands: small life!
When the player walks through the grass and looks down, in the 1 meter (1 yard) aroudn his/her legs the player can see dozens of tiny moving things, most of them not more than tiny dark dots. Some just move unaffected by the player's presence, some fly or jump or crawl away from the player in different speeds. Some of these tiny dark dots (a few might actually have beautiful colors instead) might swirl aroudn flowers or whatever. There would be a 1/1000 chance to see a slightly bigger insect (to minimize RAM usage).
Besides these micro insects, I could also imagine worms, a few moles, or meerkats. But no interaction between player and those, they just serve to beautify the landscape and give somethign to observe from close (on knees). Some sounds of insects when being on knees would be nice, too.
I live in the tropical Jamaica. During night it happens not a few times, that I suddenly hear the flapping of a birds wings that passes me low over my head and shocks me for a moment. Have the same inside your game. Just the sound, you cannot see much of that night bird or bat, maybe only some black body moving away from the player fast. It suddenly comes in, causes a little shock, and then flies away. No interaction here, too. Have a number of night sounds. This certainly would add greatly to the game experience...

Depends on the votes. If the developers really listen to their initiated voting system, they will eventually add this feature. :-)
