Small Grid should have external cockpit

It would be aesthetically pleasing and completely logical if small grids had access to an external cockpit (one that isn't behind glass) of some kind; ideally just a chair with controls of some kind, the large grid one would be fine.

Dozens of builds require an external cockpit to make any sense: Motorcycles, Jetpacks, Jeeps, Light Airplanes, Transport Craft, Large Small Grid Land Carriers, Refuelers...the list could go on for a long time.


The resources already exist in the game for Large Grids, only minimal adjustments would need to be made to port them over to the Small Grid.

In tons of videos on YouTube, players have been attempting to workaround this limitation by using riding in seats and controlling craft via remote control blocks that disable your ability to look around and require many more button clicks than the simple 1 of getting in a cockpit.

It would be awesome if small grids had external cockpits. Thank you.

They announced on a stream today that they are fixing/removing the super grid flightseats that worked on smallgrids, Please for the love of Clang Keen please bring us a small grid flightseat. I love them because they didn't die to 3 bullets and you can hop in and drive around. Also the smaller size made it so I could build some interesting vehicles(I would prefer it to be small but I understant if your going for the 3x3x3 size). If your going to remove something that players clearly used to enhance there builds I feel like we should get something to replace it and thats not a exploit because this DID effect a lot of people builds. The seat/remote block is really annoying to work with having to search in the menu and than if you press a button it kicks you out and worse of all how weak the seat is. I had lots of fun with my rovers driving them into combat or racing them with ease of jumping in and out. Please just don't take something away from us and call it a update...

Probably will be declined saying "Game is already too complex, won't add more blocks", just like for small grid windows. Hope i'm wrong...

That was said before they added many more blocks into survival. Nothing is set in stone, otherwise nobody would have any hope requesting something like this.

We should also have better turrets than the vanilla small grid turrets which are so bad I feel like they are the cause of my lung cancer, medical rooms (they should probably be nerfed as a whole tbh, like adding a cooldown or something to prevent suit spamming, and with an increased cooldown on the small one, they, will probably make a separate topic for this), better tools in general (I might make a separate topic for that) but for this we should have 5x5x10 ship tools that have 2-3 times the range of the small welder and the same component cost and weight of the large tools. there should be more weapons in general (might also get to that in a separate topic), production (scaled down from the large ones, and maybe even not have any upgrade module ports) and glass, very much glass.

its just we can't reliably expect to go more than <50km from HQ in a small grid with SE's current state....Ohh! that reminds me, we need cryo chambers for small grids. In Space Engineers, things tend to go wrong too often so it would be nice to have a medbay so when the game crashes you can spawn back, and an assembler to replace all the tools you loose (or to scrap the ones you "find" crammed in your prison wallet when you spawn). also there should NOT be small jumpdrives, I like the idea of carriers, but the way this game has evolved has kinda made them unfavorable.

I made a topic about craftable medkits I do feel like something needs to be done about the Engineers health. HE IS SO FRAGILE! Any little thing can go wrong and you'll die to instant kill turrets, your own jetpack and Clang. I agree we need more ways to heal other than respawning or flying back to a large/static grid base. I think its kinda dumb how ME can heal themselves with bandages while we just die or run. Also yes those small grid turrets have the biggest hitboxes and will die instantly with crappy 600m range. Shame my custom turrets that used a supergrid interior turret as a designator are all dead now...great how in the world am I going to make a small grid turret with the HUGE AND WIDE small grid turrets .

Guys, clearly small grid flight seats are not part of Mareks grand design. The game is supposed to use passenger seats as an annoying work around, by design.

I was going to say about the game being broken but this doesn't necessarily mean the game is broken, just incomplete. there are other things that make this game a broken piece of shit. For example, I haven't been able to upload blueprints since probably September,
