Or maybe have a "inventory fullness indicator" option when you add a cargo block or group of cargo blocks to the hotbar. That way, you can configure exactly what you want to see.

This mod will add a fill indicator for the drills you use while drilling, it allows you to precisely monitor when you need to stop mining:

Also this mod adds quite a few things that should imho be vanilla, like the air leak detector.
