Ship engines didn't function after undocking

I'm playing on my brother's server, we're on an alien planet and I wanted to make a mining ship. I made it with the drills on the bottom and a docking port on the top. After finishing it (with a landing gear between the drills, I built a docking port on the ceiling of the hangar and docked it by pressing "p". Then I realized I hadn't made any connections to the dock and undocked the ship by pressing "p" again. The ship just fell to the floor and began exploding. Stationkeeping or whatever the thing that's controlled by z was on, the ship just plummeted as soon as I hit p again. The ship used a reactor and had at least 2kg of Uranium in it before it docked. I could see the animation for the engine firing but didn't notice they affecting anything.

I am having the same issue. I thought I was doing something wrong, ended up building 3 different ships. As soon as I docked with my main base, and tried to undock...it just plummeted to the ground.

Any luck with this?
