[Safezones] Speed limit for grids in safezones

This would add to

-immersion (ships no longer smashing into safezones at max speed)

-customizability

-slight prevention from people smashing into your ships, pushing you out

For grids approaching the safezone at above the speed limit, they could either be

-blocked from entry if speed is too high

-still be able to pass through, but speed instantly (or slowly) decreases to the max limit

Pushing ships out of safezones should pretty much be eliminated by this, seems like a great idea.

Problem is you still kind of need to push inactive ships from the connectors if somebody afk's on them. It's hard to find a compromise between pushing grids out of the zone and pushing ships off the connectors.

First thoughts I had about this.

  1. Ships smashing into station at full speed is something devs can't hard fix without it feeling too artificial.
  2. I don't see the "customizability" here, since station rules should be applied to every station for simple gameplay continuity.
  3. Pushing ships out of safezones should not be removed. What if something actually needs towing? Hydrogen can run out in the safezone.

A simple solution that could deterrent people from going fast in safezones, could be to simply have players going above speed limit lose faction reputation with that faction once during their stay in the safezone. If they leave and enter again, another chance to lose reputation. So every time somone comes in "too hot", they get a small punishment. Do it too often and the faction will not trade with you. A small credit fine could even be added to that, to make it hurt some more.

Much less artificial, and will more behave like as if it were a station law.

1. - artificially stopping ship/slowing it down immediately on safezone edge still looks better than smashing.

2. - Why don't you see customisability? It's an option to modify gameplay element of your zone. For NPC safezones the limit should be the same I agree, but player's safezones could play with this.

3. - Yes, thats something that can't be avoided I guess. You gotta guard your ship, however if somebody comes at max speed and shoots you out immediately, what can you do? If speed limit gives you 10 seconds reaction time, that could prevent a lot of griefing.

I like the rep/credit fines, but then the speed limit would have to be better communicated to player, otherwise it would lead to confusion. Changing antenna name would not be good, because it doesn't look good in a name signal. Another antenna with shorter range would mean every single station grid would have to be modified and rebuilt just to inform player. I don't know how to make this simple.

If you skip the part about customizability, you could have it a known rule that no one is allowed to go faster than for example 30m/s in safe zones, or else rep/credit fines start rolling in. It would probably remove lots of hassle.

You could also still as suggested before make the zone shield not let anything through traveling faster than 30m/s. So it'd be like flying into a cliff for griefers, exploding their own ship.

Then there's just the problem of griefers inside the shield, pushing around ships. Kick/ban is always an option, but I can't think of a reasonable way to completely stop enemies pushing ships inside the zone.
