Remove platinum from thrusters

Currently when you start on a planet, you can't build thrusters to get into space to get platinum unless you first find platinum on the planets where it doesn't exist. This results in someone that wants to start on a planet to either be forced to have meteors that destroy the landscape while giving a tiny trickle of platinum extremely slowly, or be forced to go into creative mode to gift themselves platinum so they can get thrusters to build a ship to go into space to find platinum. This is a catch22. Please either remove platinum from being a requirement of thruster components, or put platinum on the planets. Either one would solve the problem. I personally favor putting platinum on planets, since in real life that is where it is found, but either one works.

Hydrogen Thrusters are specifically tailored for leaving planet. And for occasional acceleration boost in space.

I've built myself hydrogen shuttle just to leave planet and find asteroid with platinum. You just need enough ice ... that is found on every second asteroid.

I disagree with this idea, having platinum not on planets gives you an actual challenge of trying to get platinum, one of my most memorable moments so far was getting to space to find platinum.

Hydrogen Thrusters are the answer to this question, as those before me have stated... No catch 22 about it. I have a BP specifically designed for the stock lander, to turn it into a hydrogen capable vessel specifically for this reason...

Well if hydrogen thrusters are the answer to this question, then I can see why so many people made mods to enhance the efficiency of the hydrogen thrusters. In their mod'ed state I can see them being a viable answer, though when they have been mod'ed the question becomes why have the ion thrusters if the hydrogen do everything that the ion can do. But I guess you are saying that we should just use mod'ed hydrogen thrusters and pretend that the ion don't exist, and that too is viable. So maybe I should change this idea to be to make the hydrogen thrusters more efficient so that we don't need to run a mod in order to be able to use them. Until then I will just use the mod'ed hydrogen thrusters instead of using creative mode to give me the needed platinum.

Well ... to leave a planet with hydrogen thrusters efficiently you don't need mod.

Just use put two buttons on G bar for +- thrust override. First override to max until you get max speed (~100), then play with it so you override just enough to keep speed at 99-100 until you get out of range.

You will save a lot of H2 this way. Bad design I'd say - if at max speed, the game should take only so much fuel to keep speed at it. So at 0 gravity, game should not use any fuel.

Thrust Override is invaluable for mitigation fuel consumption. with that lander refit I spoke of, I can exit the atmosphere of the earth like planet using only about 20-30% of the hydrogen reserves.. (single hydrogen tank) very easy to conserve in space... and none required for landing at all, since the atmo lander is quite capable of stopping itself in a free fall.
