Remake of Light Armor and Heavy Armor, Decals and Painting

Everybody knows how horrible Light armor looks with most colors except white, heavy armor looks horrible even with white a bit better with black.


Either way Heavy Armor is very strong now but for it's price it feels... too strong compared to Light Armor yet not HEAVY enough. I honestly feel like there are no drawbacks to using exclusively HEAVY armor apart from a slight amount of extra resource requirement.


Light Armor feels too heavy and offers the protection of a paper bag. interior walls offer more protection and sometimes even look better.


I propose a Remake of the textures and properties of Light and Heavy Armor. (Especially the textures) so as to make them look better and less dirty when colored. Perhaps even adding a bit of reflection on the armor to give it a more metallic sheen.

I'd like to have skin drops for ships, and the ability to add decals to blocks. Like adding a rust decal that gets rid of the shiny scratches and makes them look weathered.

This is one of the few areas in which Space Engineers could take some serious notes from Empyrion, their layer decal options, painting block faces instead of the whole block, etc... allows for much more inventive coloring schemes.
