Proposal: New Weapons

Hi, I've already asked about this on steam and and Dan2D3D suggested me to start a thread over here.

I'll be totally honest with you: the game is great, but it REALLY needs more weapons. It would also need a graphic restyle of existing ones, actually :(

EXISTING ONES:

[LARGE GRID] Turrets: the base ... actually sucks :( I'd like a shorter and larger base, like the one of Small Grid Turrets. It would be awesome.

NEW ONES:

1) Well, it would be awesome to have ROCKETS (homing missiles). If it would be hard to make as fixed weapons, at least give us the turrets (with auto-aim it shouldn't be difficult to make homing rockets).

2) Bigger Missiles ... 200mm are nice, but I would really like some 1000mm Cannons that bomb the sh*t out of heaviest ships/stations. Some single-shot cannon turrets for Dreadnought class ships.

3) Shields ... yeah, I already know the Devs have chosen to not implement lasers and Star-Wars like weapons, but we really need a way to protect the outer hull of our ships ... TBH it's quite annoying and aestetically ugly to make a Hull with 3/4 blocks because you have to put a welder behind the armor for auto-repair. The actual game gives us the chance to create real marterpieces out of our ships, just give us a way to make them efficient as well.

The turret base is massive, but what I'd really like to see is just having the actual block fill up the space used on the grid so it doesn't look ridiculous.

Homing missiles would probably be terrible for sim speed. The game already lags with normal projectiles, and the turret AI is absolutely terrible at doing more than having the gun firing at something identified as an enemy, which barely counts in a game where allies and enemies are clearly defined.

We do need bigger guns though.

Shields aren't the only way to increase TTK, and they're by far the most boring. This is an opportunity to try and find something that actually makes use of SE's mechanics.
