I get the idea behind this, but i should be able to repair a block that's already there. Fair enough that i'm not able to place the block if i'm not there on the progression, but you are boned if something happens to your starter ship and then you HAVE to start over.


Just a QoL change that would be useful.

My suggestion is you should be able to repair a block you haven't unlocked, but only if it's above the functional line. It also makes sense flavor-wise. You don't need to know how something works to slap some extra plating on top of it, but you do to repair something inside.

I agree with Johny about the only being able to repair a block above the functional line. Plus, there's another reason to do it that way. Grinding down a block to below the functional line and welding it back up again is a way to "build" a block for purposes of the progression tree and learn how to build the blocks that depend on it. So that should only be possible if you're ready to learn that block in the first place.
