[Multiplayer-Bug] Distant Planets Not Rendering For MP Clients

Hello there!

What this is about is this.

Every time (for me and my friends at least) when someone, be it yourself or a friend connects to your server, or dedicated server. Distant planets do NOT render until you get fairly close to them.

In This specific scenario, it happens with modded planets included (and other mods).

Disclaimer: Before we added any modded planets at all, and were experimenting with creating our own game world. We had it at first completely Vanilla, "Manual labor", and this still happened back then as well!

At first I hosted via the game client on my own pc.

When my friend connected to me from the UK (I am in Sweden) to help out. When I started placing down planets in the world. I could see them all. But he could not.

No amount of restarts or re-connections helped, only planets within a few thousands of km's were visible. I believe up to around 3000(on game client host) to 9000+km's(On dedicated). Depending on size of the planet and the player. And this is in Spectator mode - not exactly helpful in survival without it.

Now fast forward to today, we ended up using "Procedural World" mod that spawns in new planets based on players positions etc. So that we would not have to do it ourselves in the end (we were eager to start playing after the new MP update hit, lacked the patience to do it ourselves :P).

This: Procedural World - id=1085924447

I then, when I placed a spawn area for us to play around with and start out on. I proceed to mod the world and upload it to my dedicated server. This is when for me it made me have the same issue, Not seeing planets as my friend could not when he connected on me. And hence so it also happened to our other friends who ended up joining.

Now here we are today, a little over a month later. We are now starting to leave the starting planet ... Aaaand we have no idea where all the other planets are. It is rather tedious for me to go into the entity list and copy the gps cords for all the planets. Obviously we would rather all see the planets!

With that said!

I cant seem to find anything or anyone that knows how to control how far a planets are rendered over a multiplayer connection.

Maybe this is a rendering bug?

Maybe you have limited this on servers somehow? (If so - how do we undo it :P?)

I just do not know, and so here I am with a simple request that you look into this when you can. Or the very least share what you can on this subject to maybe help us fix this.

It did become apparent doing my research on this. That a popular opinion out there is for you to add a view distance option for the rendering of planets - I believe this would be very useful myself!

Though not exactly to relevant for me here, as they wanted it to limit the view distance on Single player games to "hopefully" improve Performance.

I want the reverse for the above stated reasons! LuL

So basically, something tangible for us to edit after our needs - be it for in my case the visual side of things - or the reverse - Performance gains.

I realize you may know about this already since it at least appears that this also happens for players in the community. I just could not find it on here, nor could i find any "fixes" so thought I'd take the opportunity to submit this bug here.

For reference, you will find the modded planets we are using on here;

Mod Collection For the server

Dedicated server setting file attached (obviously slimmed down to removed sensitive information).

Disclaimer: I clearly placed this under "bugs" when I posted this.

When I immediately after posting this started editing the post to correct spelling mistakes etc. It got changed into an idea thread instead and I had no other options to change it back.

Also for devs - if you require the world save file, send me an e-mail or personal message (I assume you can see it) and i shall provide it to you if so required.
