Missile Turret Aim
I've noticed that the turrets like to aim with their center, but the rockets come out from either side, which seems to result in the missile turret being prone to misjudging when it actually has a clear shot vs when it's actually going to impact the hull of its own ship. The turret keeps trying to "thread the needle" at tight angles and ends up clipping the hull.
I can give it as wide of a firing arc as possible, but at some point it's going to be at an angle where it thinks it can fire and causes self-damage.
Maybe the aiming radius of the missile turret could be a bit wider so the turret AI can more accurately tell when its risking friendly fire? Or perhaps have the firing pods more centralized so the missiles actually come out along the same line the turret aims with.
This is based on what I've recently observed. I know I can turn self-damage off, but it's still kind of annoying.
I love this idea; less wasting rockets on self.

We'll, we've been asking keen to fix the issue of self-damage caused by turrets hitting their own grid for... 6 years; it's a bug as old as the game itself. They claimed to have fixed it at least 3 times, and each time upon checking/testing it was found to have not made any difference- they are clueless about the concept of aiming radius / projectile cones ( bullet spread-pattern opens out into a cone from the muzzle of the turrets ).
We've explained it to them time and time again, but they just seem to totally ignore anything relating to improving weapons in the game. It's a mystery...
