Man vs Nature

I think survival mode would benefit a lot from adding more challenges along the lines of man vs nature. Lightning is a great start, but more hostile weather effects would be awesome, and would help to differentiate planets that feel largely the same. What if we faced dust storms on Mars that slightly damaged blocks on the outside of a grid over time? Or frigid ice storms on Triton that froze pistons, rotors, hinges, and atmospheric engines so that they have to be de-iced to function again? What if meteor showers were reworked so that they were more unpredictable and localized? What if the alien world had a mysterious acid rain?

Alongside this, I have always felt that the planets felt very similar, and could benefit from some tweaks. What if the earth like world had more scarce resources, but more friendly NPCs? What if the alien world had much deadlier sabiroids and more hostile weather, but an abundance of resources? What if Pertam were rich in resources, but also teeming with pirates? I think these two things together would make each planet feel a lot more distinct beyond a change of scenery, and let each lend itself to different playstyles, as well as adding another dimension of threat and challenge to survival mode.

yeah, I agree with this, whenever I play survival I speedrun the earth to get a decent-sized small grid out of the atmosphere and then book it to the moon to get resources other than ice. If it weren't for the proximity of NPC stations on the moon then I would just stay on earth and grab low orbit asteroids for everything not on earth
