Game / Mod suggestion: "Laser Ore Detector"

A block that acts like a camera or just a camera addon with which you can point on asteroids that are visible but too far for the vanilla Ore Detector to detect Ores. It would be something like a laser with scan functionality. The Distance or the point(x,y,z) of target you could get the same way like jumpdrives detect obstacles. At this target point you create a scanning sphere like the normal ore detector does. So basically no additional performance cost. Found Ores could be displayed with the Text HUD Api Mod on players hud. Maybe considering a cooldown could prevent too fast scans (for gameplay and performance reasons)

Basically I was thinking about this because playing on servers sometimes asteroids spawn wrong or are wrong displayed at client side which causes ship damage or crashes, especially when the simspeed is dropping you get sync issues. A laser scanner could prevent this.

Maybe someone with mod skills could do this, too.

I like a longer range detection device that would not pinpoint the location of the ore. But rather give a vague direction that you have to narrow down as you get closer. Before you go there you might get some audible or visual noisy cue what sort of ore could be there. Like some frequency tones in static noise. (with plenty of false positives) Or a Geiger counter. Basically a spectrum analysis like astronomers do with exoplanets thesedays. That would enhance the exploration and search aspect. (Like the ore sensor in the Elite Dangerous planetary buggy showing a noisy directional signal pattern.)

This would be really good. I just really want something to shrink the grind of checking countless asteroids for platinum and uranium early on.
