Jump Replicators (Small Grid Only)
The Concept:
Have you ever seen a scene in a star wars movie where an entire fleet of ships would jump to hyperspace at the same time? This would include any fighters or smaller ships that wouldn't be able to jump on their own. Space Engineers needs Jump Replicators, that allow it to jump with a large grid ship using a jump drive.
How it will work:
With the use of relative dampening, ships can speed match each other easily. But in this case, it will also allow you to replicate jump drives on small grids. Jump Drives can serve the same function of Jump Replicators, by copying the jump of another grid, but they will be using their own power and not draw from another ship.
The jump replicator would be a 2x3x3 block that looks similar to the large grid jump drive. It can not be used manually, but you'll have to have relative dampening enabled on a larger ship with a jump drive on it. When that ship uses it's jump drive, the jump replicator will allow the smaller ship to jump with it.
The Jump Replicator will still require charging, like the Jump Drive, but still take less energy in total. For gameplay balance, the main Jump Drive may have to draw more power to compensate the masses of the replicated jumps.
This would have to only work for friendly grids, so you can only follow a faction owned ship. Otherwise you'd be able to follow enemies when they try to escape in PvP situations. I do like the idea though!
