Jump Drive Bounding Box

Jump drives at the moment simply teleport a grid and its subgrids from one location to another.

This works pretty well, unless you're walking inside the ship when your friend hits the 'jump' button.

Would it be possible to have jump drives teleport everything within the bounding box of the parent grid as well? This would make large ship interiors the player can move about more useful than they are now.

IMO, it kinda makes sense for you to have to strap down. After all, you're jumping through space, it's gonna be a bumpy ride!

Another problem that could appear is in PvP scenarios. If an enemy comes close to you, but you jump out to get away - he'll follow, which could even reveal your base location if you jump straight back.

It would also mean that you could make these pillars that stretch out and "catch" other ships in the jump drive bounding box.

Take a page from the Halo universe and never jump directly home :P

I can understand those concerns for sure, and while I'd argue they'd actually add a bit more depth to PvP, I've actually thought about an alternative. I don't know if its practical with how the game is coded, though...

Perhaps players inside pressurized compartments of a ship get dragged with it through a jump rather than everything within the bounding box of the grid?
