Help: Can't find uranium on survival server.
Submitted
I'm playing on a server with "vanilla" resources settings. I'm on the server for a month now and I searched about 150-200 asteroids and I didn't find any uranium. I'm using a compact ship with large grid ore detector set to max range and I always fly as close to the asteroid as I can and I search it from every side.
What am I doing wrong? Is the uranium just on specific asteroids? Next to certain planets or something? Anything else I missed? I'm really losing patience and I'm close to quitting playing survival, because I'm struggling to keep my moon base running for a month now. :-/
Please help!
Unfortunately that’s just how it is. Uranium is “rare”. My prospecting ship has a jump drive, so I just jumped random hundreds of km, like 500 km, in some random direction, away from planets/moons.
That seems to do the trick. I originally searched ~300 local asteroids with no luck. After I jumped 500 clicks away, the 4th asteroid I searched had 3 uranium deposits.
Alternatively, spam batteries and H2 engines on your base and run off ice which is pretty easy to find (since you mentioned your base is a moon base, plenty of ice at the “poles”)...
Hope this helps

Thank you for your answer. I will try expanding my search radius.

Seems asteroid seeds carry certain ores in certain areas, like this other guy says... go 100 or 200 km from anywhere you've searched before and you might start seeing different clusters of asteroids with other ores.

You can buy ships at the store which run on uranium but still can’t find uranium to power them why make it so super rare please has anyone found uranium on Xbox beta ? I’m running a large ore detector I’ve scanned 50+ asteroids I kinda getting bored

I'm whole heartdly against having Uranium be so far away. if this is the case. where the uranium is placed litterally hundreds of clicks away from planets, then that's both unacceptable and unreasonable. Hydrogen energy is clunky, annoying, tedious as hell, and above all else. HARD TO GET STARTED. you cannot start a hydrogen engine without hydrogen and you cannot get hydrogen without an H2/O2 generator, and to do that you need SOME FORM of pre existing power and EVEN THEN YOU HAVE TO GIVE IT A CONSTANT SUPPLY OF ICE IN ORDER TO KEEP IT GOING OTHER WISE YOU RISK BRICKING THE BLOCK UNTIL YOU CAN SLAP ON A NEW BATTERY OR SOLAR PANEL!
It's not fun.
It's annoying
it can be interesting, and it gives insentive to go to space. but when my goal is SO FAR OUT. i don't see it as worth it. because then i gotta POWER THAT JUMP DRIVE WITH HYDROGEN
