Create More Long Term and Short Term Incentives to Build, Explore, Play Sandbox Survival Etc...
I would love some incentive to progress through the game, build certain crafts/bases/rovers, Explore, go to different planets and all that. I'm currently struggling to find reasons to do any of these things in my current game and as a result I just don't feel like I can be bothered to do any of it because I have no reason to.
It feels to me like it's the biggest thing that's missing from the game. The incentive to do it just because you want to is ok for a little while but it needs something more to keep me interested. I really love Space Engineers and everything you can do in it already but I'm getting bored due to the lack of incentives and I don't want to get bored of it. Like.. I get the urge to build something or go explore but then I just feel meh.. about it straight after because well... "why? I don't have any decent/urgent reason to build this/go there..."
(I know the scenarios provide incentives to a certain extent but I'm asking for something that gives incentives on the sandbox survival mode)
Actually, you know what would be really awesome? Space engineers with all the incentives/gameplay loops of Empyrion: Galactic Survival.

I would hope we're about to receive an update to NPCs and NPC behavior... in-fact the entire system of getting prefabs into a scenario is just unnecessarily complicated. Testing your prefabs to see if they behave correctly is mind numbingly tedious. Trading is near pointless. By the time I can afford to purchase something like a ship, I've already created enough infrastructure to just build the thing rather than buy it.

As for going to other planets to explore, they should add abandoned protected bases and some of them maybe should be completely hidden underground and some in the side of mountains. As for space, I think they should add Cerberus and Argentavis back into the game as well as other new ships. They need to take a bunch of blueprints from the workshop into the game for buy able ships, pirate ships, and cargo ships. They should also make the pirates a LOT more dangerous instead of the few getting cannons that you can easily avoid in a space suit. As for trading and buying I think they should make I so that if you want to buy a really good ship, you should have to go way far out lime to the station I'm going to now which is 30,000km away from anything. The farther out you go the better the stuff you can get. Also they should have buyable bases.
