This has always confused newcomers and the lack of clarity of the description combined with the performance impact of meteors particularly on dedicated servers causes problems for many, particularly when setting up servers on one of the many shitty hosting services that provide no contextual help for the settings.

Yes, while the meaning is explained in the tooltip, the naming could be a lot clearer from the beginning. The tooltip should at best be used for additional information, not as a "reward" in a scavenger hunt.
