Canon Barrel Block + Canon Firing block + Canon loading blocks + Canon turntable/trainer-elevator

The idea is that instead of having one pre set canon model. The player has to Engineer their Canons on their ship. The barrel block will increase accuracy in an atmosphere, and decrease accuracy and increase recoil in a vacuum. The Canon firing block fires the round, dependent on size of the calibur. The loading blocks can be stacked to increase loading speed and size.

This way we can customize our guns and put plating around it and what not. It is not a one block solution, but gets us many different potential styling blocks and creates Engineering problems.

for the Canon barrels we can have short stubby Space barrels and Long planet barrels for accuracy.

There are cannons in SE?

I guess in hindsight, modular artillery barrel and parts would have been a better title. lol

It's a nice idea, but that level of modularity is firmly in the realm of modded weapons.

I'd be perfectly happy with ANY kind of large calibre weapon ( fixed or turreted ), let alone having options to alter the stats. What we really need are just a couple options for large calibre guns, something like the Little David (which is plenty big enough without being silly) which is large calibre but slow RoF, and a smaller calibre equivalent which is less powerful but higher RoF, that way you don't have balance issues to worry about. Same deal with turreted weapons- a single barrel, powerful but slow moving turret, and a 2 or 3 barrel version which is less powerful but gives you a more steady stream of fire.

That's just the way SE is kinda designed- no real modularity in terms of building multi-part blocks ( weapons and other items ), just straight forward design and solid balance. I like what they did with the upgrade modules for refineries and assemblers, but that ties into the whole survival aspect of the game by giving choices- when it comes to weapons, that's a level of options the game doesn't need. We just need MORE weapons to give us creative options...

I totally agree with modular weapons instead to be modders hostage
