Better G menu by moving Vanilla Blocks to there own Categories
I made a suggestion about a Mod doing this but a dev suggested i add this here with a link to my original post https://steamcommunity.com/app/244850/discussions/0/3192485276062605548/
In it i suggest renaming all the current default G Menu categories to Include the word 'Mod' or 'Modded' and create new categories and move all the vanilla blocks to them.
What this would do is all existing mod would keep to the original(renamed) catagories and all the vanilla blocks would appear in there new own categories keep a tidy division between modded and vanilla blocks
At current having several mods with blocks or even one mod with lots on new blocks and clutter the G Menu, due to the wat the default 'All Items' categories is done with all the empty spaces mods will appear in these spaces causing a mix and match of modded and vanilla blocks all in one page. By moving the vanilla blocks to a new category called 'All Vanilla Items' and renaming the original 'All Blocks' category to 'All Modded Blocks' Modded blocks would continue to appear in the default now renamed 'All Modded Blocks' wile leaving the newly created 'All Vanilla Blocks' alone and uncluttered
This would be the suggested category list
All Vanilla Blocks
Vanilla Block Weapons
Vanilla Block Tools
Vanilla Character Weapons
Vanilla Character Tools
Vanilla Emotes
Vanilla Armor Blocks
Vanilla Cockpit Blocks
Vanilla Consumables
Vanilla Conv/Cargo Blocks
Vanilla Large Blocks
Vanilla Power Blocks
Vanilla Production Blocks
Vanilla Small Blocks
Vanilla Symbols
Vanilla Window Blocks
All Modded Blocks
Modded Block Weapons
Modded Block Tools
Modded Character Weapons
Modded Character Tools
Modded Emotes
Modded Armor Blocks
Modded Cockpit Blocks
Modded Consumables
Modded Conv/Cargo Blocks
Modded Large Blocks
Modded Power Blocks
Modded Production Blocks
Modded Small Blocks
Modded Symbols
Modded Window Blocks
This is a big list so the main point of the suggestion is only adding separate 'All Blocks' for vanilla and modded. I believe the 'All Blocks' category is used the most having separate vanilla and modded categories for 'All Modded Blocks' and 'All Vanilla Blocks' would be great just those two wile all other categories stay mixed
All the Modded categories are actually the original categories were all mods are already set to appear in, the Vanilla categories are all new that mods arnt set to appear in
Hiding these new Vanilla categories from modder use would ensure the stay vanilla and clean
One alternative i thought of wile typing this is to add two toggle buttons to the G Menu UI
A toggle for Vanilla, and a Toggle for Modded, unchecking Modded would hide all blocks that are not vanilla blocks, unchecking vanilla would hide all vanilla blocks just showing modded block
This method would not need duplicate categories, it would leave the category sorting as is but allow for a quick sorting to show or hide vanilla/modded blocks from the g menu simalay to how the hiding of blocks in the terminal works
In my steam post i went on to suggest how the G menu could be Rewrote to have a dropdown category style ordering system
Heres a quick mock up of how that could look like
You would remove the 'All Item' category altogether and remove the category list on the left and have all blocks sorted into independent dropdown spaces, and have all mods automatically create there own dropdown section with the name based on the mods name
The search feature would work and appear exactly the same
With this dropdown style you can now scroll down to the exact category you want open it and grab the blocks you need
Adding on to my concept, i took more time with it

Firstly by merging the space of the categories into the Block selection space you get a much wider selection space allowing for more block icons in a row

You use the Dropdown toggles on the side

I added quick filter toggles,
'Groups' shows all the grouped blocks when checked or all individual blocks when unchecked
'Vanilla' shows all vanilla blocks
'Modded' shows all modded blocks

Added an extended filter dropdown list, this allows you to toggle visibility of each category. Players can uncheck catagories they dont use or just want to hide for the time being, see voxel hands i unchecked in the list and dosnt appear in the main window

Each mod should automatically add a new category using the mods name for the category name, meaning each mod has its own ordered category weather the author sets it up or not.
Each category block selection count would have a max number of rows it displays before it gets its own independent scroll bar insuring one category cant take up too much space in the overall all menu

Along with the Menus main scroll bar

So here is the over all concept

You could add an optimization to the icons and have them only load when a dropdown is expanded, by default you could have just the armor blocks expanded. So on that first load of the G Menu its only ever loading the icons for just the armor Blocks category and so dosnt stutter if you have alot of modded blocks
It only loads the icons when the category for the mod is expanded
