With advanced small grid rotors and hinge heads the piston one would be a logical conclusion of ways of making sub grids on large ships. For example that will allow convenient extendable manipulators with changeable heads using small merge blocks which would lessen potential encounters with Clang and make them more compact. Also this can be done for potential future 3x3 small grid piston
