Player-made search contracts can no longer be created
Under Consideration
search contracts are no longer available to be created in the contract block. this is not in the patch notes, so i assume it is unintended. search contracts are very important for finding lost grids, there is currently no other way to do this.
additionally, search contracts as they were before the update would instantly fail if the grid lost power, which i believe is a bug, it is at least not good for player contracts when trying to find lost grids.

I like this feedback
And even if it miraculously worked the GPS would be in the center of earth, and you would need to F5.

If i remember correctly, you could use repair contracts for unpowered grids, but im not really sure about that.

Situation:
Prior to 209 update Players were able to issue either a Search Contract or a Repair Contract from a Contact Block that they had created.
This enabled a Player to find a Grid that they had lost provided it had power or at least one damaged block.
Now with the new Contract System, Players are no longer able to access these contacts as they have been remade.
Impact:
If a Player now loses a Grid, they lose the work and resources that they have put into it.
Their only option is to hope that an Admin is available to find it for them or to delete the Grid from their PCU menu.
This means either losing the Grid entirely or a possible long wait. Either could possible drive the Player away from Space Engineers.
Solution:
The PCU Menu is already able to remotely interact with Grid.
The new Economy System is able to generate GPS data from LCD Screens.
Implement a system whereby a Player can "ping" their Grid and recieve the GPS for it.
Balance:
Since some Player engage with the game as Pirates and will try to Steal other Ships, this system should only work if the Player "pinging" the Grid is the Majority Owner.

Hello Engineers,
Thanks for the discussion and feedback on this topic.
We understand that player-created Search Contracts could also be used by players to keep track of their own grids. However, for the time being, player-made Search Contracts have been removed while their overall behavior, usage, and intended purpose continue to be evaluated internally.
To help ensure your feedback and suggestions are properly reviewed by our programmers and designers, we will be moving this thread to the Feedback section of the forum, where gameplay suggestions and design considerations are collected and evaluated.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and suggestions.
Kind Regards,
Keen Software House: QA Department

Can we please have an interim solution for finding grids that are lost, until you have decided where you want to go with the player created contracts? In the end the contracts where not supposed to be used for that, but i hope you understand the need for this feature. Maybe a quick solution would be to add "ping" buttons to the pcu list, next to the delete buttons?

The Keen Official Server Admins on the Keen Discord Have responded "build a contract block and make a search contract" to requests for help finding a lost ship since the contract block was added to the game. What do they do now, say "tough" because they don't have time or inclination to assist ?
