Deleting Grids - Proposed Improvement
I would like to suggest an adjustment to how grid deletion works in order to support fair and meaningful PvP gameplay.
Currently, a player can simply delete their grid the moment they begin to lose a fight, which undermines the entire purpose of PvP and removes the sense of risk and consequence. To address this, I propose the following system:
When a player chooses to abandon a grid, they should not be able to instantly delete it. Instead:
- All interactable blocks on that grid are automatically powered off.
- The grid and all of its blocks lose their owner, becoming unowned.
- A one-hour countdown begins, after which the grid is safely removed from the world.
During this one-hour window, players should be able to interact with the unowned grid. If a player accesses it, a “Claim Grid” option similar to Factorum block claiming should be available. Claiming the grid would transfer ownership and PCU responsibility to the player, just as with Factorum mechanics.
To prevent free assets from being instantly usable, the player would still need to grind down and rebuild any blocks they wish to operate, maintaining the established progression and balance.
This system ensures that PvP engagements remain meaningful and that players cannot negate the outcome of a fight by simply deleting their grid mid-combat. It preserves fairness, adds strategic depth, and aligns grid abandonment with the existing Factorum-inspired claiming mechanics.
