Change How Buffs Are Gained

Considered (Not Planned)

With the introduction of Apex Survival, the survival mechanics have been thoroughly explored and fairly well implemented. However, the one aspect that seems to be lacking, in my opinion, is the implementation of the buff system.

The current buff system was definitely added to discourage hydromanning / zerg rushing an enemy by benefiting those players who are more careful and value their clones lives and I think the carrot is a great way of addressing this minor issue. However the current system seems to be dissonant with the gameplay aspect. Gaining 5 random buffs all at once every 45 minutes doesn't feel rewarding at all (and as some players have pointed out, the notifications can be quite distracting)

My solution to this issue would be to stagger when these buffs are given by incentivising the player to do specific actions. Want to increase your grinding speed? grind some blocks and get that buff sooner! Got a big ship to weld? Well, you'll be doing it quicker thanks to your new buffs! Been running around a lot? Congratulations, your legs are now swole! Health and oxygen consumption could stay the same. (Or maybe reward the player for staying in oxygenated or warm environments? who knows) The point being, I want to feel like I've earned my buffs, not just been handed them like a consolation prize.

Regardless, I think how buffs are spammed at you every 45 minutes needs to change, and this would be my suggestion to stagger them out and make them feel more rewarding. I hope you agree!

Yeah, it would be more interesting on day 5, if one faction member was the faster one and another a better welder and the third the hp tank. And players can guide encourage buffs by the work they do. Buffs are easily gained and lost anyway, making a bit of a difference per player surely won't turn the game into an RPG?

Another suggestion I had while discussing this was maybe having the food you eat, impact what buffs you gain quicker? Could be an alternative way and a lot easier to implement to make the buffs feel more dynamic. Regardless, the sentiment still stands among many that buffs need to be changed in some way.
