Increase view distance on official servers from 3km to at least 5km.

At the moment, the grid streaming distance on Official Servers is only 3km. With target lock at 2.5km and max turret range at 2km, you can often find yourself under fire and possibly even completely destroyed before the enemy grid has even loaded in. This happened to me today, actually.

Increasing view distance wouldn't harm server performance. It's not like everyone builds bases at 4km intervals - usually people keep all of their grids bunched together at their base (especially if it's under a safezone) so no matter the view distance (up to a point), the same number of grids would be loaded in.

On planets it's a little different as there's less space so the density of player bases is far higher than in space. However, I have yet to encounter two bases less than 10km away from each other.

I feel that the benefits of increasing view distance would VASTLY outweigh the singular benefit of having an extremely low view distance - that being the miniscule amount of protection offered to moon-dwellers from being spotted by travellers. A benefit that's rendered completely obsolete when someone goes looking for voxel deformation holes.

Increased view distance would make fleet battles far more immersive as you can actually see other ships fighting from a distance, allow you to judge an enemy's firepower without having to get too close to it, and promote player interaction by making it easier to see other people.
