Economy system II - Trade wars

The Economy system is in a desperate need on some love and overhaul. I did a suggestion for Economy focus update long time ago that would focus on a trade war between the different NPC company. With the recent updates I think is time to take another look at that idea.


NPC company are rivals in the same star system competing for trade and influences. Players can be influenced to be pawns in the trade war between the NPC faction by getting mission that leads to encounters similar the ones we now got in the Contact update. Missions can be raiding rival NPC spaces station, ambushing cargo vessels, building new outpost, defend and control a station, stealing data pads with with information about trade routes/time or passwords for safe zones. But also large hauling missions and buy/selling in large volumes all base based player reputation with NPC factions. The more you do for one faction the bigger contrast and reward you get and unlocking unique items and blocks for every factions when a certain reputation level is reached. Reputation with one faction would affect your reputation with other factions. NPC factions can set bounty's and missions targeted against players working for there rival based on their reputation.

I would argue that it also needs survey data and blueprints. It is a great motivator to assault a ship or station if you know they contain coordinates to a nearby uranium, platinum or gold asteroid instead of having to spend hours asteroid hoping and scanning.

It probably should affect 'growth' a bit too. If you deliver enough materials to a station it will eventually grow and if you raid a station's trade lane it will eventually shrink.

Starmade use their dynamic faction system to great effect, but it's a bit more global then SE's 'trade factions'.

I would also very much like for NPC stations to have names. I don't just mean RLHI - Station. I mean RHLI - Crusoe Station, or something.
