Designer - a block for building ships or stations in creative mode without leaving survival.

Good day,

As a person who wants to fly beautiful buildings and is ready to spend thousands of hours on it, I would like to see such a block in the game. Not all my friends share this opinion, and here is a compromise. Such a block will allow you not to leave the game, remaining the host / in the game, periodically combining survival content with creation. Having played more than 2,000 thousand hours since the release, I spent 90 percent of the time in creative.

There are many implementations of such a block, for example, such a designer can also act as a calculator: calculate resources at the base, perhaps the necessary thrust of engines in planetary conditions, and so on, but to begin with, I would like to see the simplest option with the ability to simply build.

Vanilla construction in survival does not provide such opportunities as creative mode can provide

Good luck, I hope that I will find like-minded people on this topic.

if you're looking for a quick toggle between survival and creative, press alt+f10 and enable creative mode tools

I was about to write the same suggestion and then found this topic, good idea.

After coming back to Space Engineers from Kerbal Space Program, I forgot how tiresome it is to design ships in the game, without switching to creative mode. Proper designer mode should have much more stuff, than just symmetry tool and the ability to quickly add and remove blocks. As you mentioned, it should include calculator, which are already available online and they're even recommended on the official wiki, if I recall correctly.

To keep it short, the designer mode should tell you about:

  • mass (current and maximal)
  • range/delta v (a calculator that tells you how long you can fly until batteries or tanks get depleted, depending on the mass)
  • power storage/usage

I really hope it gets added in SE2, because there was some talk about implementing features from creative mode into a survival mode.
