Rockets discussion
Dear keen. The pcu cost for a rocket launcher is 825. The PCU cost for a turret is 275. An artillery turret does 17,000 damage per shot. The DPS is 2666.The large rocket launcher does 500 damage per shot. Its dps is 705. that's 3 artillery turrets for one missile launcher.
Nobody builds rockets. Even when they want to. Handheld rockets are cool, but that's about it.
Instead, people are building missiles that are literally powered by hydrogen engines, with small grid warheads on board. This might be what you want. It is undeniably cool.
But to be frank, not having rockets in actual pvp environments sucks. If rockets were balanced against artillery, they would be doing at minimum 3x their current damage. If they were dps balanced as well as pcu balanced for the pcu to damage output against artillery turrets, they would be doing 11x their current dps.
Another option would be to reduce the number of rocket projectiles. If rockets launched were a single rocket and it had homing, and it was scaled up to do as much damage as a full salvo and had the reload time of a full salvo? Now we are getting into missile territory. The same territory currently occupied by constructed missiles.
Can we have the conversation with the entire community about the egregious pcu expense of rockets, as well as their relatively low damage?
I fre like hi PCU cost is there to discourage building many in MP but in any case, building stand alone guided missiles have even majotr impact on server performance so I don't see why static launcher has to be that costly. In terms of firepower, yeah, they need a buff, maybe also the range.
