Default ore sensor range

I only want to inform you that after building a couple ore detectors on a official server, creative and survival i have come to a conclusion that they, when built, have their detection range set at half its maximum.
This directly contradicts the "COMPLETED" tag on a post from 5 years ago, so it would be reasonable to actually fix the issue, or change that tag to "WONT FIX" or some other.
