Reduce huge craters on Planets (LOD rendering)

Basically i ask you for reduce effect of "huge craters" on Planets when you just drill some ice or crash your ship and make 3m wide and 0.5 deep hole.
You can add some tolerance for updating level of detail (LOD) of planet mesh.
Like when planet surface Edit is bigger than = 1km wide then update planet surface.
Example 1
I made some car tunnels 500m long to reach upper part of mountain.
When i leave planet i see a huge crater instead of whole mountain.
Example 2
I made missile base in center of desert valley.
99% of base is underground and i see huge low poly crater from space.

Absolutely! I've never understood these huge craters being rendered from tiny holes. Lower level of detail should reduce detail, not exaggerate it.
