RARDAR Via Event Controller triggered by AI block target stats

I have been marginally successful using the AI defensive and offensive combat blocks to trigger the event controller by having the EC set to detect the AI block's Target distance stat. AI combat block set to target enemy and neutrals and activate when the target is equal to or less than 2500m. I have had success getting the event controller to trigger off of this status without an AI flight (Move) block being present on the grid but the results seem unrepeatable. I understand this is using the block in a manor other than intended, but I think this would be a great way to have an in-game vanilla built radar system that doesn't require an AI flight move block or a thruster for the system to work, and can be placed as a small grid sub grid to a larger ship.

The very essence of this game is to use blocks in a different manner than intended its the essence of engineering to think outside the box or even forget the box
