Add a (Lock/Unlock) to merge blocks

Basically this. Add a lock/unlock option to merge blocks rather than on/off so if your object dies the merged bits dont go flying off and it would honestly look better

Not necessary. Merge blocks don't require power. Their ON/OFF state controls the connection/separation directly and is not linked to availability of power on either grid.

That is a very subjective and unreliable argument. For a change to a software product that is sold, or meant to be sold, to many more people than just you, the change has to be worthwhile enough. So, to get your suggestion through, you would want to provide more substantial arguments that are more convincing than just "would look better".

How do you even define "looking better"? In what way, what measurable quality, would it look better? In what way would it improve user experience? In what way would it be worthwhile the modification to people who are already used to how it currently is?

Also, your text is confusing. On one side you request an option to be added, which would mean to end up with two switches, but then you also continue with "rather than on/off", which sounds like you want the existing switch replaced. Which one is it now? Do you want an additional switch? Do you want a text change to the existing switch?

The way your request currently stands lets it have the figurative snowball's chance in hell to gather support, and that's not even counting how abandoned the forum appears to be. If you really want a change, recommend you reevaluate what you found lacking enough to raise this request in the first place and then reformulate the request to make clear what people would be voting for. Because as you can see from the fat lot of 1 (one) vote so far, it's not been that convincing regardless for what reason.
