I can, yes. But that's not the point. The point is, one, that C is the default in a 6DOF, FPS-heavy game (FPS games have had Down, or Duck/Kneel/Crouch/Sneak/Whatever, on Ctrl since as early as the original Quake, training literally generations of FPS players to expect Ctrl, ffs), and two, that when one does change it to Ctrl, then Ctrl still remains in use as modifier key for things like relative dampers (Ctrl+Z), and you cannot remap that. So, when Down is remapped to Ctrl, and a sync of speed and direction is attempted, there's always that first bit of downward movement for your character until the Z in Ctrl+Z is registered. Hopefully you can see where this is going when the target is small, fast, or agile, or all of that. Like those moronic unknown signals that run away from you when you approach them.
