Big gun post penetration effect

So Warfare 2 came and gave us some amazing weapons... the thing is none of them really do any meaningful damage to anything bigger than a fighter.

Sure they drill neat one by one holes but that isn't what kills ships and that is not how cannon's work in the real world either. That is to say any and all penetrating shells have post penetration effects and here are a few suggestion to fix this issue.

The simplest one is to go old school WW2 (or 40k) delayed HE or mass reactive shot. Quite simple really, shell penetrates and then goes boom. Bonus is tons of internal damage and over penetration becomes a thing you need to consider which would give the assault cannon a purpose when firing at more lightly armored targets. This would make the most sense for the cannons as the shells already explode when they reach max distance.

Suggestion number 2 in case you want to stay with the idea of solid shot penetrators is spalling. Make the shell split into smaller ones after it has penetrated a bit, this is how real solid shot such as tank SABOT works. Spall has poor penetrative qualities but can wreak havoc on internal structures such as cargo, reactors, conveyors and most importantly people. This makes the most sense for the rail gun

The third and by far the simplest solution is give each weapon the option to just fire standard boring old high explosive. Explosion do more meaningful damage as it is in game. That being said, this really is quite the boring solution

Anyway, let me know which solution you find most interesting or if you think that the current system is good as is.
