Sensor target pad

the sensor is really cool but awfully limited in what it really could achieve relying on either a player or ship being the trigger,

What would really open up the full potential of the sensor is a simple sensor target pad where the pad would be an placeable block object appearing in the list of things the sensor could detect and trigger an action. I was thinking of a pad the approximate size off an interior light that could be attached to any block.

For example, a sensor target pad at the bottom of a lift shaft could be used to stop or reverse a lift platform with a sensor attached,

Or an arm with a mining drill mounted on a rotor with a sensor mounted to it. As the mining arm swings left 90 degrees the sensor detects an appropriately mounted target pad and trigger a reverse off the rotor until the arm has now swung a full 180 degrees to the right and detects another target pad again a reverse is triggered. This would make building automated mining rigs so simple,

Another idea would be a sensor mounted to the bottom of a ship with a target pad embedded in a hangar bay floor. as the ship is manoeuvred over the hangar bay floor once the target pad has been detected it could be used to trigger a docking manoeuvre so that ship could be consistently parked in precisely the correct spot every time,,

The list is endless and potentially game changing. It would encourage far more complicated builds and reduce need for using many mod scripts

Just to clarify, What I am suggesting is that the Target Pad appears as another category in the sensor setting.

It would appear in the list along with player, sub grid, ships etc, etc. This would enable an action to be performed solely based on the detection of the Target pad and not a grid, sub grids, player ship etc.

It would also mean you could detect one object (with the target pad attached), but perform an action on a totally different block, something that is impossible currently.
