Restore backwards compatibility

Classic versions of this game through 1.192 were able to load **ANY** game save (with only a little coaxing) dating all the way back to fall 2013. After 1.192 about 1/3rd of my game saves that I consider to be active cannot be loaded. This is not acceptable because the game should not be less compatible with its previous versions than version 1.0 was.
