gameplay variety/addition

Some version of this needs to be in vanilla! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUGLDb5KXEI

With the addition of a "scrubbing" block to counter rust. Could be in the line of a "rust scrubbing tool" for personal slow and precise scrubbing, and a laser scrubbing array block for a more efficient and larger area of effect, something in the line of 3x1x3, to be mounted on a ship/structure. These collect the rust in form of "rusted metal", or just "rust", which in turn can be smelted down for low yields of iron.

This opens up for more gameplay variety, alien planet could become a toxic planet, with acid rain, resulting in more and faster build-up of rust.

Iron should be very scarce on that planet and only small pockets deep underground and in some caves, trade-off is gold and other noble metals, which is not affected by acid, is plenty and on or near surface. Ice should also be scarce like iron, or its toxic and need to be refined to make usable. The atmosphere is so toxic that you lose health each second you are outside in the open. Alien planet then becomes a challenge and more of a late-game area free of pesky new spawn griefers.

id like to see the same thing stuff like to see freezing could happen and same with moss but for the last bit about making resources more scarce don't think that is it chief.

also to make this system better would be with this too: https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers/pc/topic/more-then-one-armor-skin-on-a-block

My idea for more scarce common recources was to discourage alien planet as a starting planet, and more it into late game or extra hard challenge start. Rare metals is abundant, Common metals is scarce. Making the planet a target mid to late game, and possibly very pvp. It's not really an ideal place for a base, and the high gravity makes it a challenge as is, so you'd have to come up with some creative designs and ideas to snag the rare metals before you rust up and gets trapped, or shot by a competing faction.

Deep canyons, and caves, hold smaller pockets of less to no toxic atomosphere, as we have now, making it possible to survive, if you start on the planet or get trapped.

Point being, no one comes running for iron or ice on a 1.25g planet, but throw in tons of gold, silver, uranium and platinum, and watch the mayham unfold 👍 rust and toxic rain makes for nearly only active online plays on the planet.
