Limit World Size and Cubes

When creating a new world the Limit world size option is nice, especially if you want to make a PvP map or something of the like.

The problem is that the world is cube shaped, an option to make it spherical would be great. As it stands right now, it's basically impossible to find the exact center of the map.

Even if you found the rough center and started going outward toward the border, you could easily accidently shoot out of the world and lose you ship and life (Especially if you're using mods to increase speed limits)

If you made the map start at 0,0,0 and expand outward with whatever radius is set then the distance from the center to any given edge would be the same.

Create a new GPS bookmark at 0,0,0, that's where your world center is.

The issue isn't knowing where the center is. It's not knowing where the boundaries are.

If you're in the center of a cube the edges are various distances away from you, so even if you did have a center GPS point it wouldn't be all that helpful.

But if the world shape was a sphere and you made a center GPS, the distance from center to edge would be the same no matter which direction you went.

Fair enough, it would probably indeed be nice to have some visual representation, like a chaperone grid.

In the meantime, you could create bookmarks in the same way for the borders.

It's not pretty, but at least you'll get at least some sort of indication. Also, perhaps this, with adjustment for the distance: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1319931109

Maybe even look at what the Starcore tournament thing uses, they seem to have a visible border grid, no idea how that's generated.

I have tried making GPS on the borders and indeed it is not pretty.

I'll check out that script and see if it suits my needs for the time being.

I think for those tournaments they use they either use a safe zone or an antenna with the range visible on HUD.

I still think a simple option for making the world a sphere would be great.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I've now tried to find a Starcore video where that grid I could have sworn to have seen was visible so that I could refer to it, but so far without luck. Maybe I was imagining things after all.
