Missiles Live for Ever - Potential crash/memory leak
Submitted
It looks like for any kind of ammo the only limiting factor for their life is distance.
It may be especially a problem with shells, as they are affected by gravity and can ricochet. It is possible for shell to lose enough velocity to evectively become suspended and never explode, permanently affecting worlds performance, just like memory leak.
While it's rare (but not zero) in vanilla, lack of time restriction is especially problematic when modding, as it is very easy to crash the game and corrupt entire save with too many physical objects permanently in the world.
A simple TimeToLive tag in SBC file would prevent the problem.
