I have watched, and even participated in role play game events online. I thought about how this game could potentially expand on the role playing aspect if some things were actually implemented. One of them being a map of space and planets. Either in grid pattern or something. Be able to have a hologram of the map to display in your base would be awesome too. Space Engineers 1 was nice as a PvEvP game, but it's time to expand on it to more role playing as well with SE2.

I make my own maps, using the screenshot function. I then convert them into the weird ASCII format that lets you put your own pictures on LCD panels, which allows me to "hang these maps" in my base and ships. Sadly the resolution isn't great, but it's better than nothing.
Another option I've considered is using my screenshots to replace some of the default posters. This could be done as a mod or editing the files directly. This would allow for much more detailed maps, but only I would see them on a multiplayer server (everyone else would see the default).

ps - I'll give your suggestion a thumbs up, because with all the silly posters Keen has given us (most of which I don't like), it would be nice to have some useful ones like maps / orbital photos. It would save me some work!
