[Public Test] Tech Tree Progress - Dump it entirely. Replace it with filter on what you can build.

My progression tech tree feedback: I think you really need to look at dumping the tech tree progression concept entirely, and simply code the G menu to only show parts you can actually build using current equipment you or your faction owns with a toggle to enable viewing what you're missing. The default should show only buildable with a toggle to show everything else you can build taking into account everything in your faction's inventories and parts built into owned blocks, and any equipment owned that can produce needed parts.

Thats BS because now you know where to look for the things you want to build. They are all there, but some are greyed out. So you still have the same order on all of them. Your suggestion would break the whole scheme. You would spent the whole time searching for things you can build. And on the other hand, why would it be b"better" than what we have now?

What is the chief reason for progression? Is it to limit the blocks new players have access to so they can learn the game faster? If so, then G key filtering on what a player can build given current owned equipment, is all they need. That's what this feedback suggestion is for.

With your suggestion, the lag produced anytime someone opened the G menu would be atrocious - the game would have to check all inventories, tally that against every single block which would be bad enough with just vanilla blocks; woe betide you if you use modded blocks too. Multiply that by n factions. Then you want to go further and have the game scan every grid for potential salvage? Crazy talk!

Finally, as I said on reddit, the tech tree doesn't have to be dumped. You can just turn it off in settings - it wouldn't have to be progression OR your 'idea', it could be both.

Agreed to a point. Instead I modify by suggestion to only show G key items (by default) items that can be built with currently owned equipment.

In a way, you sort of already have what you suggest but it is not implemented into the G menu. Rather, it is within the assembler/refineries themselves. They may only build what their level of ability is at and are further limited by the resources you have. You can get quick feedback there. Personally, I get your point and will not disagree with it entirely tho. Making it a toggle would be ok but yeah, much like the progression tree I feel it is not necessary.

The game has its own inherent progression.
