We need tracks

Under Consideration

We need tracks to build all-terrain vehicles. For more strength at less speed, or just turn around on the spot. I think with tracks engineers would have a lot of fun. :-) PLEASE VOTE :-)

Imagine that: creating something like TrackMania. Then run on...

No I think he meant the kind of tracks that a tank uses for propulsion.

especially with the motors using so much hydrogen. anything using them needs a massive weight of ice or a HUUUGE hydrogen tank. tracks would solve this

Motors don't use hydrogen.

Mech's Mods: Gears & Things, already provides the blocks you need to make tank treads. though it could use an update, most of the track stuff still works.

I wouldn't mind this, because they could just be a visual effect on certain modular blocks, which have their own suspension like wheels, but could have the links or treads be connected together visually using some kind of average. Similar to how Minecraft works with fences being connected despite originally looking different, this could be done with the tracks, Or push this to a modder in the community.

I think he meant hydrogen engines Kweestor

Tracks would be useful for maintaining grip on uneven grounds especially if there was some give in them.

Tracks would be useful to create mining rovers. I have been experimenting and found that mounting the drills on a hinge makes it possible. But I have also noticed that due to how the voxel engine works drilled terrains is terribly uneven and wheels just don't cut it when the rover is fully loaded. Tracks might help a lot.

Then again it turns out mining rovers are a lot more trouble to build and operate compared to fliers since thrusters are so unrealistically powerful that they can easily lift anything. So the natural advantage of rovers is practically void.

With that said there is currently little gameplay reason to give rovers a focus, thus sadly I don't think this is a priority in any way.

As a long time heavy equipment operator and mechanic I HAVE to upvote this one! (~_^)-b I've been wanting tracks in this game ever since forever! I own tracked equipment, have used it for decades, and repair it for myself and for others, and its something I live for. Especially on planets and moons [where there is gravity] tracked machines should even have some advantages [but with some limitations such as much lower top speeds (the fastest I have ever gone in a tracked vehicle was 67 mph, but MAN was that SCARY! <and super destructive of the machine its self!> {also, most machines made can't go over about 20 mph full throttle because it is dangerous and just not practical, except for main battle tanks, which operate on rubberized tracks, and have their tracks replaced quite regularly since such speed destroys them rapidly}] so that they are more realistic.
