Sensors Double trigger for Ship and Player in Ship

I want to have sensors check if a player on foot is in range, and another for ships to act accordingly
e.g. Do I need the railgun turret, or small defense turret to activate.
Sensors respect players alone, but when a player within a ship enters, both sensors, player only and ship only are triggered.
this feels odd and makes no sense to me - please make a filter for "Characters Only"
