Add the semblance of life to planets

Allow Voxel types to have a particle effect bound to them with biome restrictions.

e.g I create a volcanic biome allow my lava voxel to have a small steam particle generator attached and then LOD them for distance, Then a volcano in the distance would have the effect of giving off gasses and the effect can be greater or lesser depending on altitude.

Add Effect to Grass Voxels that is random where walking close to one generates insects being scared out of the grass. same for trees and Birds.

Add birds flying randomly in the sky and random animal noises.

They don't have to be interactive just ambient effects.

Hello, Engineers!

We believe that the main gameplay feature of Space Engineers is engineering, as opposed to focused on simulating life.

Cheers,

Engineering is the application of science and math to solve problems. As of right now there are very few problems to solve in the game. Environmental risks and other factor such as acidic invironments give a very much needed game play elements to SE. As it is right now sure it's amusing to build a contraption only to have it blow apart due to poor physics, but that will die soon enough as it did before the multiplayer update. There is very little substance to the game and it is alarming to see this idea dismissed with what looks to be very little consideration.

So adding depth to the game is not in your plans? Survival is already severely lacking in gameplay; hostile drones/life were one of the few things that added depth.

If people just wanted to engineer things they would play Autodesk Inventor. People play games to give them an approximation of challenges they can overcome in a few dozen hours. The only challenge in SE is”planets are boring” make a ship and go to space. That takes 2 hours max. It’s like you don’t even know your players but hope they want to play quake with glitchy physics. When is the last time you actually took a player poll on game content? 2 years ago?

Most greate achivements where made with a challenge to solve in mind having more challenges = more achivements to do and solve

I agree with Keen on this. Spiders, wolves and other silly creatures don't belong in this game. Its an Engineering game not a zombie survival game/cosmetic fashion ship designer.

It's not an engineering game either. Don't let the name fool you.

This is more like CAD for 8 year olds that way to many creepy adults play (me being one of them).

Detail in the setting(s) is sorely lacking regardless of the gameplay (which is also sorely lacking).

Why have trees and grass? SE is a game about mining and block placing, not about botany...

That's just sad

So your conceding to Empyrion Galactic Survival on this one then? Such a shame I think there is so much S.E has over E.G.S but E.G.S has actually made a Game, not one I want to play I might add, the building is awful and the lack of physics ect.

I would reconsider this seeing as planets are empty. Also you need enemies to fight that spawn from pirate med bays for boarding and taking over bases. This is something Empyrion has, enemies that fire weapons, drones are simply not enough.

while it is true that the main focus of the game should be engineering the game does leave a surprising lack of things to engineer maybe some sort of environmental catastrophe could give players a reson to go to space or add in preasure for an ocean or what have you

I like you but...wtf? I mean he's right, there is no interest to use our ships. It's not really a game.

Really this isnt even about wolves and spiders, its about the lack of just about everything in the game. Sure its fun to build stuff, but it is even more fun when those things have a purpose. As of right now we have asteroids and thats about it. Planets are nothing except giant lifeless asteriods. There could be pirate base spawning system, random airship attacks, there could be radiation damage, lightning storms.Snow storms and other weather conditions that make it impossible to see without sensors like IR or sonar. Have things like temperatures on planets and in different regions so that you need to watch how much energy you are using because of a risk to overheating your ship. Aero dynamics on planets for proper aircraft not the garbage that vanilla has right now. Maybe a there are super high winds on a planet that make aircraft very dangerous but the planet has a special resource that allows for a better component. Biggest kicker is all these things ALREADY EXIST in mods when you piece them together. And any excuse about complexity or realism in physics is garbage because look at everything else in the game, place rotor and make it actually do something like rotate a wheel and watch it wobble. A balanced wheel and motor will not do that in real life. Im not complaining about where the game is at, they have made tons of progress but if they leave it where it is at, which is what it looks like they will do. I will lose what little interest i have left in the game, because having to just find fixed version of mods because tiny little things have changed in their code is getting tiresome, and without mods this game might as well be a useless copy of autocad.

i have this on my dedi server but sadly its all modded But still fun as everything! :) *besides when a big base or ship spawns and takes a few moments to load cause well SE Loading for you. haha but agreed SE Devs Need to Add More Content,

making planets seem more alive (maybe not mars) would add to the immersion :)

I do not want to advertise another game but bringing an exact example. I really like the idea in NMS to discover and describe species on planets :) Until I heard that feature of NMS, I was totally uninterested to buy that game, now I am thinking about it.
